All, right I am finally at the printing stage. But before I go ahead with the printing I wanted to see what everyones interpretations are. So, please comment away.
Hmmm... I think this may be a metaphor for "what does a woman have to do to get her family's attention?" She does so much for the care and management of her family, yet she feels the unrelenting pressures of these responsibilities and no one around her seems to take notice. She feels hopelessly trapped. What is that document she's holding - her will, maybe? Am I anywhere close here, or WAY off the mark? Regina
Ok, well maybe I'm crazy but I'm seeing lady liberty's neck in a noose. Maybe it's because she's distraught over the mess her family is in because of greed and the national debt or because her children are either dieing or dead or drugged or so absorbed in entertaining themselves that they are oblivious to what is going on around them. I'm not sure who her husband is supposed to be (politicians?) but he appears to be a lazy dude if he's the guy in the chair. Not much life in that room -- even the plant looks like it's not long for this world. Also, not much light coming in through the window and it appears (from what little I can actually discern viewing it on screen) that there are folks dieing outside too. Maybe Jesus is standing at the door knocking because the only light entering the room is from the door being cracked and it is shaped like a cross.
Sorry if I'm way off base but that's what I'm seeing. Good job though -- very intriguing.
Do we win prizes if we guess anything correctly? ;)
Regina, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I do appreciated them. You have struck right on with the lady feeling trapped and her family not noticing.
Laurie, you are pretty much on the mark with Lady Liberty and the mess things are in. There is a bit going on that is hard to see in such a small viewing.
Once it is printed, I think the details will come out better.
Thank you all again. I will post real soon the whole meaning.
Wow! I couldn't comment because I already knew the content of the work, but I am truly amazed at Regina and Laurie's take on it! So right on the money!

In Chinese numerology, the number 8 is considered to be the luckiest number. Any dates with this number are seen as lucky dates. That would make 8/8/08 a significantly lucky date due to the occurence of the number 8 in the month, day and year. On August 8, 2008, 8 artists will exhibit each 8 pieces of work in an 8 x 8 size at 105 Studios located on 105 4th St. in the heart of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. These works will include mixed media, photography, painting, 3-D, digital and whatever else strikes their muse! This blog was created for the artists to post their muses and images during the process. Mark your calendars for the opening reception on Friday Aug. 8th from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. The show will be on exhibition until September 7th, 2008.
